Group exhibition ‘herzwärts wild’ at the Packhof in Frankfurt (Oder)

With the group exhibition ‘herzwärts wild’, which builds on the successful project of the same name from 2022–2025, the Brandenburg State Museum of Modern Art (BLMK) in Frankfurt (Oder) invites visitors to rediscover the turbulent years of upheaval in the 1980s and 1990s from a unique perspective. The focus is on works by female artists from the GDR and the People’s Republic of Poland, whose works powerfully convey stories of social change, personal self-assertion and artistic freedom.

‘Steinzeugen’ exhibition opens at St Mary’s Church

“Stone Witnesses – Not Just Spectators. Architectural Photography from East and West Prussia” is the title of the new exhibition, which opened on Saturday 11 July in the Martyrs’ Choir of St Mary’s Church in Frankfurt (Oder). The German-Polish travelling exhibition features photographs of historic buildings from East and West Prussia by the art historian and professor Christofer Herrmann.

During the holiday period, the vetting and registration process for apprenticeship contracts is in full swing at Brandenburg’s three Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK). The Brandenburg apprenticeship market offers school leavers a wide range of training opportunities to get their careers off to a good start. The Brandenburg IHKs have compiled a list of apprenticeship places, companies offering work experience placements and holiday jobs, as well as a wide range of advisory services, events and application tips.

Joint appeal against the months-long complete closure of the RE1 line

The RE 1 regional express line is one of the busiest regional express lines in Germany. The signatories of this appeal therefore welcome Deutsche Bahn’s announcement that it will invest in the modernisation of this line. Nevertheless, the construction work must not cut off the capital region, Eastern Brandenburg and the neighbouring Polish region from one another for months on end, as this would have drastic consequences for a large number of businesses, workers and institutions in Eastern Brandenburg and Poland.

The Brandenburg Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHKs) are calling on member companies that provide apprenticeships to ‘throw in the towel’. This is purely symbolic, as part of a major social media photo and video campaign to mark the start of the summer holidays. Many companies are still looking for interested young people to start apprenticeships, even at the last minute before the training begins. The “Towel Challenge” is designed to provide wide-reaching support to the local economy in its search for new recruits.
