From Monday, September 2, 2024, the city of Frankfurt (Oder) will be taking part in this year's CITY CYCLING. Up to and including Sunday, 22 September, the aim is to cycle as much as possible in teams and collect kilometers for the city – whether on the way to work, school, shopping or in your free time.

City cycling is a competition in which the aim is to cycle as many everyday journeys as possible in a climate-friendly way for 21 days. It doesn't matter whether someone already cycles every day or has rarely cycled before. Every kilometer counts – especially if it would otherwise have been covered by car. This year, the competition will take place from September 8 to 28, 2024. Municipalities and sports associations are cordially invited to join the district.

From September 16 to 22, 2024, 13 organic bakeries in Berlin and Brandenburg are inviting visitors to take a look over their shoulders as they practise their craft. In the Oderland-Spree region, those interested can take a look at the production at Hofbäckerei Marienhöhe by registering in advance. From "Baking in the open air" to tours of mills and bakeries, cookie, croissant and gluten-free baking courses to "Baking with kids", the program at the participating bakeries is diverse.

20 students from Europe, Asia and Africa will come together at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) from Monday, September 16 for the first summer school of the Competence Network Interdisciplinary Ukrainian Studies Frankfurt (Oder) – Berlin (KIU). The core of the two-week program consists of Ukrainian language courses at different levels as well as seminars on topics such as cultural diplomacy, the role of music in Ukrainian resilience, the history of the Donbas and cultural heritage in times of war and crisis. Selected program items of the KIU Summer School are also open to interested visitors from the region.

On Wednesday, September 18 from 4.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m., a film evening including a subsequent discussion on the documentary "Chronik der Wende" will take place at Junkerhaus, Carl-Philipp-Emanuel-Bach-Straße 11. The Grimme Prize-winning work from rbb documents the events of the Peaceful Revolution for each day from October 7, 1989 to the first free elections in March 1990. On Thursday, September 22 at 11:30 a.m., there will be a presentation as part of the exhibition: "Frankfurter Unterwelten: Photographic Discoveries by Hartmut Kelm" there will be a guided tour with the photographer himself.

From Thursday, 19 September to Saturday, 21 September, the 11th Tensions of Europe Conference will take place at Viadrina and is jointly organized by the Viadrina Center of Polish and Ukrainian Studies (VCPU) and the European New School of Digital Studies (ENS). On the topic "Transformations. Fundamental Change and Technology", international researchers will come together to shed light on the technological, political, social and environmental aspects of transformations.

On Friday, September 20, 2024, two residents' meetings will be held as part of the ongoing flood protection measures, at which Frankfurters who are directly affected by the current flood situation can find out about current and further steps and ask questions. The meetings are primarily open to participants who live in the areas of the city currently threatened by flooding.

The Kleist Forum celebrates the 70th anniversary of World Children's Day on September 20 and brings young talents from Frankfurt (Oder) and the surrounding area to the big stage. Up-and-coming artists will showcase their passion for singing, rock and pop music, dance, acrobatics and much more – no style is predetermined.

Everything is set to turn green in Altranft: the regional and farmers' market with the Day of Crafts and the traditional harvest parade awaits its guests. Since the beginning of the year, preparations have been underway for a day that will delight families, young and old, guests from the region and Berlin alike. Framed by a diverse market event with all that the region has to offer in terms of food, drink and crafts, a varied program of music, information, artistry and conversation awaits.

The Karl Dedecius Foundation of the European University Viadrina, in cooperation with the Oekumenisches Europa-Centrum Frankfurt (Oder) and the University of Gdansk, is offering a study trip to Gdansk/Gdańsk for all interested parties. Under the motto "Gdansk / Sopot / Gdynia – Science, Culture and Ecumenism in the Polish Tri-City on the Baltic Sea", participants can expect meetings and excursions, lectures and discussions on the history and present of the historic and modern metropolis on the shores of the Baltic Sea from Wednesday, September 25 to Sunday, September 29.

The legendary band Silly, with singer Tamara Danz, became one of the most popular bands in the GDR and wrote contemporary history with songs such as "Bataillon d'Amour" and "Alles rot". On their upcoming "elektroAKUSTIK" tour in 2024, Silly will present incomparable reinterpretations of their greatest hits with singer Julia Neigel and City frontman Toni Krahl in a unique acoustic performance that promises an evening full of nostalgia and glamor. Silly can be experienced live in Frankfurt (Oder) on November 23.

Dr. Pop is the doctor for music. He treats with music samples and fascinating music facts. His consultation at Frankfurt's Kleist Forum on January 21 is sold out. Due to the great demand, the music cabaret artist and stand-up comedian will also be a guest in the Oder city next season with his program "Hitverdächtig". Tickets have already gone on sale for the performance on January 19, 2025 at the Kleist Forum.

Multitalent Eko Fresh is returning to the stage and will be paying a visit to Frankfurt's exhibition halls for a club concert at the start of his German tour on March 7, 2025. The tracks of the rapper, whose musical career began around 25 years ago, are formative and style-defining for several generations and entire genres. Eko Fresh's "Legacy Tour 2025" with a live band promises to be a journey through all phases of his career.
