In cooperation with the Cultural Office of the City of Frankfurt (Oder), works on the subject of literature will be exhibited for the first time from October 15 to December 14, 2024 in the Artothek in House 1 of the City and Regional Library, Bischofstraße 17. The exhibition will open on Tuesday, October 15 at 6 p.m. with a reading and introduction to the exhibition by artist Karla Woisnitza.

The anticipation of the festive time of year begins in Frankfurt (Oder) with the opening of the cityWEIHNACHT. From 25 November to 22 December 2024, the Frankfurt Christmas market offers a varied program for the whole family every day from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

On Thursday, November 28, 2024 at 5 p.m., the exhibition "Tri-tra-trullala...! Kasper and his friends are here!" at Museum Viadrina (Junkerhaus). Cornelia Fritzsche, a qualified puppeteer from Dresden, will give an introduction to hand puppetry. Admission to the vernissage is free. In addition to the special exhibition, there will be an accompanying program on various dates.

The pre-Christmas season at Frankfurt's Kleist Forum begins this year with the adventures of the little witch, who desperately wants to be one of the grown-ups and learns to go her own way in the process. The guest performance by the Hans Otto Theater Potsdam can be seen as a family performance on December 7 at 3 p.m. There are only a few tickets left for the morning performances for school classes and daycare groups from December 2 to 6.

The city of Frankfurt (Oder) traditionally organizes a special event for senior citizens in the run-up to Christmas – also to thank them for their life's work. Under the motto "We are one big family", Frankfurt's senior citizens aged 65 and over are invited to an atmospheric get-together from December 4 to 8, from 2.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Exhibition Hall 4. Guests can expect a convivial afternoon with coffee and cake, a show and dancing at the end. There will also be the opportunity to purchase Christmas arrangements and small gifts.

On Thursday, December 5, 2024, starting at 2 p.m., a commemorative event will take place to mark the "occupation" of the secret service headquarters in Frankfurt (Oder) 35 years ago. In 1989, citizens gathered in front of the Frankfurt district administration of the Ministry for State Security (MfS) in what was then Otto-Grotewohl-Straße. They demanded access to the building and the detention center as well as an immediate stop to the destruction of files that had begun.

A candlelight Christmas concert with organ and trumpet will be held on Sunday, December 8 at 5 p.m. in the church Neulietzegöricke, in the oldest colonist village in the Oderbruch region. Admission is free, donations are welcome for the organ. A warm drink and snacks will be provided.

The enchanting actress Suzanne von Borsody will be presenting her new Christmas program "Tannen lächeln elektrische Liebe" on 8 December at Frankfurt's Kleist Forum. The audience can look forward to a reading with charm and depth and many lovingly wrapped literary gifts. She will be accompanied musically by the duo Feliz, consisting of bassist Kurt Holzkämper and Omar Plascenica on vibraphone.

The Theater des Lachens tells the humorous and imaginative story of a hungry fox and a clever goose that stubbornly refuses to serve as a Christmas roast in this year's Christmas tale. "A Goose's Special Christmas" premieres on December 8 at 3 pm on the studio stage in the Kleist Forum. The following week, it will be shown in the morning program for nursery and school children.

Scientists from the Viadrina Center B/ORDERS IN MOTION and the University of Potsdam have researched how fire protection, emergency services, local transport and other public services are organized across borders. On Wednesday, December 11, 4:15 p.m., they will present their findings for the German-Polish border region at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder).

The pre-Christmas season is here and the town of Bad Freienwalde invites you to a special experience: the Advent magic in the castle park from December 13 to 15, which is supported by the town's associations and Bad Freienwalde Tourismus GmbH and the host Michael Linckersdorff Foundation. This influential citizen of Frankfurt (Oder) will be commemorated by an all-day symposium on Friday, December 13, at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder). Interested parties are cordially invited to attend the conference in the Viadrina Senate Hall.

The Silly concert in Frankfurt (Oder) on November 23 was canceled at short notice due to illness. Now you can see the band live at the rescheduled date on December 22 in Frankfurt (Oder).

Due to the great demand, the music cabaret artist and stand-up comedian will also be a guest in the Oder city next season with his program "Hitverdächtig". Tickets have already gone on sale for the performance on January 19, 2025 at the Kleist Forum.

Multitalent Eko Fresh is returning to the stage and will be paying a visit to Frankfurt's exhibition halls for a club concert at the start of his German tour on March 7, 2025. The tracks of the rapper, whose musical career began around 25 years ago, are formative and style-defining for several generations and entire genres. Eko Fresh's "Legacy Tour 2025" with a live band promises to be a journey through all phases of his career.
