From 23 June 2026, prospective students at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) will have the opportunity to find out how a degree course in their chosen subject is structured. Under the motto “Try it first, then study”, the trial study programme offers excellent insights into the content and procedures, special features and everything that is part of life as a student. Registration is open until 21 June 2026.

The appeal of the subsidised fibre-optic network in the Märkisch-Oderland district continues to grow. The network operator e.discom has secured Telekom as a new, strong cooperation partner. One million students from Germany have gone abroad for a study or internship placement with funding from Erasmus+. As part of the #OneInOneMillion campaign initiated by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the European University Viadrina has named its student Mareike Nesselhauf as the “millionth Erasmus student”. She is currently spending her second semester at the SGH School of Economics in Warsaw.

The East Brandenburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK Ostbrandenburg) has presented the results of its early summer 2026 business survey: the Business Climate Index (BCI) in East Brandenburg has fallen to 76 points. Similar figures have previously only been recorded during very severe economic crises, such as during the coronavirus pandemic. By way of comparison: the growth threshold is 100 points. The bottom line is that, rather than growing, the regional economy has lost a further 18 ECI points since the start of 2026.

From 10 to 14 June, researchers from the university will be presenting their current work at the joint stand of the Berlin-Brandenburg capital region in Hall B, Stand 320.
