Invitation to a German-Polish educational and exchange seminar in Warsaw

The Karl Dedecius Foundation at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder), in collaboration with the Ecumenical European Centre Frankfurt (Oder) e. V. and Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw (UKSW), to a German-Polish educational and exchange seminar in Warsaw. The study trip will take place from 15 to 20 September 2026 and is themed ‘35 Years of the Neighbourhood Treaty: Memory – Dialogue – Future’.

Apprentices in eastern Germany are keen to get started

According to an IHK survey, practical relevance and the prospect of a permanent role are the most important factors contributing to trainee satisfaction in the eastern German states – a total of 85 per cent of trainees in IHK-accredited professions would recommend the training programme at their company to others. A direct link to practical work remains particularly important for young people: around 94 per cent of those surveyed stated that practical tasks and immediate immersion in everyday working life are key reasons for choosing an apprenticeship.

The Leibniz Institute for Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ) e.V. will henceforth operate under the name Leibniz Institute for Horticultural Sciences (IGZ) e.V. The renaming marks the logical conclusion of a multi-year institutional development process, which was specifically driven forward following the appointment of the Scientific Director, Prof. Dr Nicole van Dam, in October 2022.
