Invitation to the 2nd Dialogue Forum of the Twin Cities on 28/29 May

How can differences of opinion be respectfully resolved? Citizens from Frankfurt and Słubice are invited to exchange views with people from other European twin cities on 28 and 29 May. The meeting will focus on the question of how people in the European twin cities are dealing with the current hardening of world views and border issues.

"Now put down your mobile phone" – European University Viadrina takes part in the 13th Potsdam Science Day

The European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) will be taking part in the 13th Potsdam Science Day on Saturday, 9 May 2026, with hands-on experiments and two lectures on the Golm campus of the University of Potsdam. Visitors to the research camp can look forward to a varied programme of workshops, experiments and multimedia presentations, including on smartphone use in families and the recognition of AI content, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

This peak season, there will once again be special public tours of St Mary's Church in Frankfurt (Oder). It starts on Wednesday, 6 May at 4.00 pm with the guided tour "Foray through the underworld – a guided tour to burial sites and through the cellar vaults of St Mary's Church". Further themed tours, e.g. to the choir windows, will follow until October.

Helping to shape cycle traffic: More than 120 suggestions already received

Online participation still possible until 3 May! A public survey on the cycling concept for Frankfurt (Oder) is currently underway. Since 23 March, more than 120 responses have already been received from the public via the project website. Citizens can share their experiences and observations about cycle traffic and the cycle path network in Frankfurt (Oder) online at www.radfahren-ffo.de and use an interactive map to very precisely indicate danger spots and weak points and briefly explain the situation.

European University Viadrina opens coworking space in Frankfurt (Oder)

The European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) opened the Viadrina Coworking Space in the centre of Frankfurt (Oder) on 15 April. In future, people will be able to learn, research and work here individually and collaboratively on around 1,500 square metres. The building was remodelled over five years at a total cost of 17.5 million euros. The result is an innovative, flexible space that will serve as a place to teach and work for Viadrina students, employees and founders, as well as facilitating encounters between the city and the university.

New exhibition "Aufnahmezustand. Collection additions from the years 2021–2025" in the Rathaushalle Frankfurt (Oder)

With the new exhibition "Aufnahmezustand", the Brandenburg State Museum of Modern Art (BLMK) is presenting selected new additions to its collection from the past five years in the Rathaushalle Frankfurt (Oder). A total of 43 artistic positions provide an insight into the continuous expansion of a collection that, with around 45,000 works, is one of the most important collections of modern and contemporary art in East Germany.

The European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) has appointed Prof. Dr Nella Sayatz as Junior Professor of International and European Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law as of 1 April. The specialist in international criminal law most recently completed her doctorate at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and her legal clerkship at the Berlin Court of Appeal.

Frankfurt (Oder) creates conditions for new data centre location

At its meeting on 26 March 2026, the Frankfurt (Oder) City Council unanimously laid the foundations for the development of a large-scale data centre site. The city councillors have thus paved the way for investments of up to 3.5 billion euros. The new data centre is to be built on the outskirts of Frankfurt (Oder) on the 87 federal road, positioning the city specifically as a hub for digital infrastructure in the German-Polish border region.
