Anyone with an interest in agriculture, land use, food, nature conservation, resource conservation or research – or who would like to develop such an interest – is warmly invited to attend the autumn seminar ‘Support, Cooperation and Networking for Projects’. 

From affluent suburbs to a region with great prospects – south-east Brandenburg and Berlin are booming. From the area around BER Airport and Tesla to hidden gems amongst small and medium-sized industrial enterprises, one of Germany’s most exciting growth regions is emerging, and the Oderland-Spree area is part of it.

The 4th Oderland-Spree Regional and Farmers’ Market will showcase regional producers, farms, initiatives and businesses. Visitors can look forward to regional produce, traditional craftsmanship, innovative ideas and the people who shape our region and help forge its identity through their dedication.

This Sunday, the annual ‘Open Monument Day’ will take place across the country. In Frankfurt (Oder), too, this event offers the chance to experience history first-hand and free of charge. This year’s theme for the event is ‘NetzWERKE: Monuments & Infrastructure’.

The Märkisch-Oderland district and the independent city of Frankfurt (Oder) intend to work more closely together in future in the field of land registration and surveying. On 20 August 2026, a public-law agreement to this effect was signed by Gernot Schmidt, District Administrator of Märkisch-Oderland, and Dr Strasser, Lord Mayor of Frankfurt (Oder).

It is a remarkable correspondence: for more than twenty years, from 1911 to 1932, Marie Skłodowska-Curie and Albert Einstein exchanged personal letters. Dr Ewa Łabno-Falęcka, winner of the Viadrina Prize, will speak about this exchange between two icons of science at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder). 

In this new research and exhibition project, the Viadrina Municipal Museum is, for the first time, focusing on the multifaceted literary history of the town on the Oder, from the beginning of the early modern period to the end of the 20th century: there is much to discover. 

Preparations for the “National Reading Aloud Day” have begun. On 20 November, people across the country will once again be reading aloud. The Stiftung Lesen is calling on as many people as possible to read aloud in as many places as possible on this day. 

Back from the holidays and looking ahead to the next stage of life: many young people already know what path they want to take after school or university. Others have left their decision open for now. The application portals are still open – at least for most degree programmes with no entry requirements. 

Good healthcare is a key factor in a town’s appeal – both for the people of Eisenhüttenstadt and for the town’s attractiveness as a place to live and do business. That is why the town is now providing its own financial boost.
