Organised for the fourth time on a voluntary basis by residents of Beeskow, this participatory festival for young and old alike is taking place on Beeskow’s church square. Because: the climate – it concerns us all!

 

Dried beans are slowly but steadily gaining importance as a local source of protein. But how can they be successfully grown under the conditions in Brandenburg? Which varieties and cultivation systems have proved successful? And what prospects does regional marketing offer? As part of our event, we will present the latest findings from a four-year cultivation trial with dry beans and take a look together at other heat-loving crops such as vigna beans and soya beans.

A German-Polish expert workshop is being held as part of the EU project ‘BB-L Interconnection – Vision for a Shared Interconnected Area’. The event will focus on the presentation and discussion of a report on renewable energies and the spatial implications of the energy transition. 

Dr Manja Schüle, Minister for Culture, welcomes the future structure of the municipal financial equalisation scheme, on which the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government, and the umbrella organisations reached agreement today in Potsdam. Among other things, it was decided that, in order to preserve the theatre and orchestra sector, the allocation from the financial equalisation fund would be increased by 8 million euros to 30 million euros from 2027.

The European University Viadrina, Frankfurt (Oder), has been awarded the Ukrainian Studies Distinguished Award by the Global Coalition for Ukrainian Studies. The award ceremony took place on 8 July 2026 as part of the opening of the international conference ‘Ukrainian Studies in the World’ at the National Opera House in Lviv, Ukraine.
