Oder-Spree district takes stock after the floods

Since Sunday, the Oder-Spree district has only been on alert level II, the water levels are continuing to fall and the flood situation is easing. Michael Buhrke, Deputy Mayor and Head of the Department for Internal Administration, Construction and District Development, as well as Head of the Civil Protection Department, gave an initial assessment on Monday: "We were always ahead of the situation, ahead of the alert levels and provided information at an early stage. This principle proved its worth and we got through the flood situation well. The most important thing is that the dykes held."

"We are one big family": tickets available free of charge

The city of Frankfurt (Oder) traditionally organizes a special event for senior citizens in the run-up to Christmas – also to thank them for their life's work. Under the motto "We are one big family", Frankfurt's senior citizens aged 65 and over are invited to an atmospheric get-together from December 4 to 8, from 2.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Exhibition Hall 4. Guests can expect a convivial afternoon with coffee and cake, a show and dancing at the end. There will also be the opportunity to purchase Christmas arrangements and small gifts.
