In the "Best of Poetry Slam", five top poets give an insight into what moves them and their world. With stories close to the pulse of the times, they compete against each other to win the audience's favor.

The Viadrina Municipal Museum is pleased to announce a significant new acquisition: It is an oil painting by Carl Alexander Brendel (1877–1945) from 1928. The painting is entitled "Storm over the Oder Meadows" and shows the hustle and bustle of farm workers trying to get the hay on the Oder meadows to safety in time before the approaching downpour.

On Wednesday, November 20 at 4 p.m., the anthology "Linking Borderlands" will be presented, which sheds light on the complexity and dynamics of European border regions as contact and transition zones. The volume presents the results of the interdisciplinary joint project "Linking Borderlands: Dynamics of Border Regional Peripheries" funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

For three years, researchers and students from Lüneburg and Wrocław have been working intensively on the twin city of Frankfurt (Oder) – Słubice. On Wednesday, November 20 from 1.30 to 4 p.m., the research team will present its findings at an information and discussion event at the Viadrina.

The reading will be from books on the topic of "Wonderful stories". The nationwide Read Aloud Day is taking place for the 21st time. The aim of this day is to set a public example of the importance of reading aloud.

He is considered a thought leader for German-Polish relations and a moral authority in Poland: the historian, publicist and Polish Foreign Minister Władysław Bartoszewski (1922–2015). From Friday, November 15, visitors to the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) can get to know him anew from an entertaining perspective. The exhibition "Władysław Bartoszewski in caricatures and bon mots" will feature caricatures by well-known Polish artists and graphic designers, accompanied by quotes from Bartoszewski.

On Friday, November 15, 2024, the District Conference North is organizing a festival for the whole family from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Under the motto "Nordleuchten", Frankfurters are invited to light up the Nord district together with their self-made or purchased lanterns.

The economic region of Frankfurt (Oder) and Eisenhüttenstadt continues to grow. In addition to the expansion of the "Log Plaza" logistics center in Frankfurt (Oder), Eisenhüttenstadt is also setting new accents: A 160-hectare industrial area is being developed here for logistics and industrial companies.
