On Tuesday, 25 November 2025, the Chairwoman of the City Council, Désirée Schrade, and Lord Mayor Dr. Axel Strasser invite you to an event on the market square (in front of the town hall) to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women at 2.30 p.m.

In addition, Ms Krystyna Schüler, Head of the Women's Advice Centre, and Ms Sahra Damus, member of the Committee for Equality, Health, Social Affairs and Integration, will give keynote speeches at the event. In addition, all participants will have the opportunity to take to the microphone themselves after the official speeches. The Orange Day flag will then be raised.

In the course of the global day of action, the European University Viadrina, together with Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V., is also hosting an event from 9.00 a.m.

Background: Since 1991, the UN campaign "Orange the World" has been drawing attention to violence against women and girls. The color orange symbolizes a future without violence against women.
