City Cycling is a competition in which the aim is to cycle as many everyday journeys as possible in a climate-friendly way for 21 days. It doesn't matter whether someone already cycles every day or has rarely travelled by bike so far. Every kilometre counts – especially if it would otherwise have been travelled by car. This year, the competition will take place from 7 to 27 June 2026.

IHK Ostbrandenburg criticises relief bonus as anti-business: In the view of the IHK Ostbrandenburg, the federal government's decision that employees can also receive a bonus of up to 1000 euros as part of the relief package is detrimental to companies in the proposed form.

On the occasion of Europe Day, the 5th Frankfurt-Słubice Citizens' Picnic will take place on Saturday, 9 May, from 1.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. in Słubice on the square of the twin city, in front of the Collegium Polonicum library. More than 20 participants will contribute to a diverse programme for young and old alike.

Just before the 70th Eurovision Song Contest is held in Vienna, the ERUAvision Song Contest will take place on Thursday, 7 May at 7.00 p.m. on the studio stage of the Kleist Forum. Solo artists and music groups from Italy, France, Spain, Bulgaria, Germany and Lithuania will create a musical evening with their self-produced songs. The audience in the room and in the livestream as well as a jury with judges from all participating countries will vote on the best performance.

The gates will open at 11.00 a.m. and visitors can expect lots of surprises: Right in the castle park there is a colourful circus playground with lots of things that can be spun, balanced and juggled. The German-Polish Tourist Information Centre invites you to experience the twin city of Frankfurt (Oder)-Słubice from a new perspective. From May to October, there are regular public tours of the city as well as a variety of themed tours. The diverse programme is aimed at both visitors and locals who want to rediscover their city.

European University Viadrina is reforming its range of courses: from the winter semester 2026/27, it will offer five new Master's degree programmes and a new Bachelor's degree programme. Overall, the degree programmes will be more closely aligned with the needs of students and the focus on Eastern Europe will be strengthened in all faculties – individually, internationally and close to the issues of the current polycrisis.

IHK Ostbrandenburg publishes new commercial rent index for the region: With the 2026 commercial rent index, the IHK Ostbrandenburg has now published an up-to-date overview of commercial rents in the districts of Uckermark, Barnim, Märkisch-Oderland, Oder-Spree and the city of Frankfurt (Oder). It contains an overview of current existing rents for shops, offices, surgeries, law firms, restaurants as well as production and storage space at 16 locations in East Brandenburg.

Applications now open for Sorbian/Wendish teaching degree programme at BTU in Senftenberg/Zły Komorow - local authorities and Sorbian Foundation provide scholarships: In autumn, the second subject Sorbian/Wendish will start at the Senftenberg/Zły Komorow campus of the Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU) as part of the bachelor's degree courses in primary school teaching – applications for the course are open from 27 April to 15 July 2026.

On Brandenburg Future Day 2026, the IHP – Leibniz Institute for Innovative Microelectronics opened its doors to young people aged between 13 and 17. The focus was not only on insights into modern microelectronics, but also on concrete paths into training, studies and careers. More than ten employees showed how young people in Frankfurt (Oder) can enter a technological field of the future.
