Viadrina strengthens European University Alliance: ERUA to be permanently institutionalised

Prof. Dr Eduard Mühle, President of the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder), together with the heads of the partner universities of the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA), has signed the notarial deed to establish an international non-profit association under Belgian law in Brussels. With this step, the alliance is transforming its previously project-based cooperation into a permanent institutional structure.

Between life and death – memorial day in St Mary's Church

In Frankfurt (Oder), this year's International Day of Brick Gothic is focussing on burial and memorial culture. Under the title "Over and out! Gesine Grande re-elected as President – BTU focusses on continuity and profile building

The Senate of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) confirmed Prof. Dr Gesine Grande as President for a second term of office on 7 May 2026. The re-election represents continuity at the top of the university. At the same time, the decision emphasises BTU's role as a driving force for the transformation of Lusatia. The new term of office will begin in October 2026 following the appointment by Science Minister Manja Schüle and will last six years.

Poetry steamer sails in honour of Henryk Bereska – 100th birthday celebrations

The outstanding translator, writer and mediator between East and West, Henryk Bereska, would have been 100 years old on Sunday 17 May 2026. With the anniversary celebration "In the Flow of Words", the Karl Dedecius Foundation at the European University Viadrina and the Karl Dedecius Archive at the Collegium Polonicum are honouring the life and work of one of the most important mediators in the German-Polish cultural and literary dialogue on this day.
