The Oder-Spree District Administration is expanding its range of digital services: from 3 June 2026, the AI-powered chatbot “FragLOS!” will be available on the district’s website. This will enable residents to receive quick answers round the clock to frequently asked questions about administrative services, responsibilities and the district administration’s offerings.
The aim of the new service is to make information more easily accessible and to further improve services for residents. The chatbot helps to answer common enquiries quickly and makes it easier to find relevant information or the right point of contact.
The project was developed and supported in collaboration with the InNoWest research and knowledge transfer project. Particular emphasis was placed on ensuring the service was easy to understand, helpful and practical. Staff from the district administration were actively involved in the development of “FragLOS!”. They provided support both in shaping the content and in choosing a name. From several suggestions, they chose the name “FragLOS!”, which incorporates the name of the Oder-Spree district.
The quality of the responses is continuously reviewed and improved. Despite extensive preparation, it remains the case that AI-supported systems cannot always provide completely error-free answers. For this reason, “FragLOS!” is being continuously optimised and scientifically monitored.
The AI chatbot complements the district administration’s existing range of services and offers residents additional digital access to information – simple, fast and available at any time.
‘FragLOS!’ will initially be rolled out as part of a trial phase, which begins on 3 June 2026 and runs until the end of 2026. During this period, the system is intended to prove its worth to both the public and the district administration’s staff. The experience gained and feedback received will be directly incorporated into the further development of the service. The district administration welcomes comments, suggestions and ideas for improvement from users, so that the chatbot can be tailored even better to the needs of the public.
The InNoWest research and transfer project – “einfach machen!”, run by the universities of applied sciences in Eberswalde, Brandenburg an der Havel and Potsdam, is funded as part of the federal-state ‘Innovative University’ initiative from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2027.
