Applications for four places on the Municipal Development Advisory Board open until 15 February

The Municipal Development Advisory Board (KomEB) Frankfurt (Oder), which is to be founded in the first quarter of 2024, is working on the topic of "Inner city transformation in the twin city: Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice are shaping the future in Frankfurt (Oder)" to ensure the further sustainable development of the city center. KomEB's mission in Frankfurt (Oder) includes making a significant contribution to sustainable and collaborative inner city development with the citizens of Frankfurt (Oder) and its twin city Słubice.

The focus is on Slubice Street at the city bridge with a radius of around one kilometer. This includes the development of recommendations for sustainable inner city development. The commission for the KomEB still requires a resolution to be passed by the City Council (SVV)

The process for citizens to join the Frankfurt KomEB began on Thursday, January 25, 2024.

Citizens from Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice are invited to express their interest in joining the committee.

An online application form is available for this purpose: Link

Postal applications are also possible. Please send them with a brief explanation to:
City Administration, Office of the Lord Mayor
Logenstraße 8
15230 Frankfurt (Oder)

The closing date for applications is Thursday, February 15, 2024.

A total of four people will then be drawn from this group of interested candidates – two women and two men.

The conditions for participation in the KomEB are a minimum age of 16 years, permanent residence in Frankfurt (Oder) or Słubice and a commitment to attend four two-day meetings of the KomEB between February 2024 and October 2024. In addition, the appointment to the advisory board is personal and cannot be transferred to others. This also means that it is not possible for someone else to stand in for another person at the meetings. Furthermore, respectful and non-discriminatory cooperation is a prerequisite for the collaboration.

The KomEB also includes members of the political groups represented in the SVV, representatives of the city administration, representatives from citizens' associations, chambers, associations, advisory boards and institutions. The process is being supported by the Berlin Governance Platform led by President Prof. Dr. Gesine Schwan.

The recommendations of the KomEB will be available in autumn 2024 and are to be finally discussed and adopted by the SVV.

Background: Municipal development advisory boards are a project of the Berlin Governance Platform. They bring together local politicians and administrators with individual representatives of civil society and business to discuss a specific issue affecting the municipality. They support political decision-makers in developing socially acceptable and widely accepted strategies for complex challenges. The approach is based on the experience and expertise of Prof. Dr. Gesine Schwan.

The planning and implementation of KomEB is funded by the E.ON Foundation.
