Whether it's a neighborhood festival, a water playground or new outdoor sports equipment: 40,000 euros are available in the city budget each year to implement your own ideas. The main requirements for submission are that the proposed project has a recognizable objective, is to be implemented within 2025 and falls within the remit of the city of Frankfurt (Oder). All residents of the city of Frankfurt (Oder) aged seven and over are eligible to take part.

The Christian Encounter Days – the Central European Church Congress in Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice – took place from June 7 to 9, 2024 under the motto "Nothing can divide us". Two films about these special days provide a retrospective with numerous personal impressions.

Positive response to the call for entries for the village competition in the district of Märkisch-Oderland: a total of five villages applied for this year's district village competition. Until June 28, 2024, municipalities and districts could register to take part in the 12th district competition "Our village has a future". These will be visited and evaluated by the evaluation committee in September 2024.

The German and Polish governments attach particular importance to the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) in the area of German-Polish academic cooperation. In the German-Polish Action Plan, which was adopted by both governments in Warsaw on Tuesday, July 2, the European University, Adam Mickiewicz University Poznań and the joint institution Collegium Polonicum are specifically named as role models.

For all children and teenagers spending their summer vacations in the city, 32 Frankfurt youth facilities, clubs, companies and cultural education institutions have organized a varied vacation programme with a range of offers. 92 activities and events invite you to spend eventful vacation days. These include sporting activities, excursions, time for relaxation and mindfulness, canoe trips, graffiti activities, music on Frankfurt playgrounds and media projects.

In accordance with Section 35 of the Brandenburg Nature Conservation Implementation Act, the Nature Conservation Advisory Board at the lower nature conservation authority of the city of Frankfurt (Oder) is to be filled for the term of office from 2025 to 2029 in order to represent the interests of nature conservation and landscape management as well as to provide scientific and expert advice. Interested citizens have until August 23, 2024 to apply for voluntary work on the nature conservation advisory board.

This year's summer vacations will also see the Brandenburg Summer of Reading. The aim of this reading initiative is to encourage children and young people to enjoy reading. In addition to a variety of new books exclusively for participants, there will also be various events on offer. All children and young people between the ages of 6 and 18 can take part. Participation in the summer of reading is free of charge.

In perfect weather, around 75,000 visitors made their way to rural Brandenburg on the second weekend in June to find out about agriculture, regional products and economic cycles, discover the region's farmers and get to know the faces behind the products better at the largest state-wide event. The organizers, pro agro e.V., the Brandenburg State Farmers' Association and the Brandenburg Rural Women's Association, and the almost 150 hosts were very satisfied.

With the onset of the Ukraine crisis and the inflation-related price trends for food across the board, the reluctance to buy is also affecting small and medium-sized companies in the food industry in Brandenburg. The opportunity to influence consumer attitudes and, not least, purchasing behaviour in the medium term in these times had already been recognized by the Brandenburg Food Industry Entrepreneurs' Initiative and flanked by campaigns in 2022 and 2023.

The AGRARGENOSSENSCHAFT NEUZELLE, an agricultural enterprise equipped with state-of-the-art technology and "scattered" across 18 municipalities and 13 locations in south-east Brandenburg, was awarded the pro agro Marketing Prize 2024 in the direct marketing category. As active cooperative members, the more than 60 families rely on closed cycles as a quality feature.
