The Pro Wirtschaft alliance has sent an open letter to the chairman and members of the Special Committee on Bureaucracy Reduction in the Brandenburg state parliament. The appeal addresses excessive regulation in housing construction, which is a massive obstacle to urgently needed investment and the creation of affordable housing. The alliance members are in favour of practical reforms in housing construction and are calling for rapid relief for investors, local authorities and the economy in the region.
Monique Zweig, spokesperson for the Pro Wirtschaft alliance and Managing Director of the East Brandenburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce, emphasizes:
"East Brandenburg does not need another patchwork of standards, but practical solutions. The special features of East Brandenburg, such as low rents and the pressure from the surrounding area of Berlin, make effective relief particularly urgent. The alliance is calling for East Brandenburg to be established as a model region for innovative approaches in housing construction. The business community is ready to work with the state to launch a Brandenburg turbo for housing construction - for more affordable housing, growth and social participation."
The focus is on reducing excessive building standards and bureaucracy, digitizing building applications and reliable funding frameworks. Practical examples from the region, such as the award-winning Strausberg development "Am Märchenwald", show that building can be efficient and future-proof if the framework conditions are right. The alliance demands, among other things
- Reduction of building standards and more flexible densification options
- Fixed approval deadlines and binding digital procedures
- Harmonization of state building regulations
- Promotion of serial construction and more flexible conversion rights
- Increase and continuation of housing construction subsidies
