Economist Prof. Dr Charlotte Köhler is the new Vice President for Digitalization at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder). The University Senate elected her to the position on Wednesday, July 16, at the suggestion of Viadrina President Prof. Dr. Eduard Mühle. With the new anchoring of the topic in the Executive Board, the European University is responding to the challenges of digital transformation and is further developing its digitalization strategy in a central position.
 

"Digitalization affects all areas of Viadrina – teaching, research and administration. I want to find out in which areas we are already well positioned – and where we can think ahead, expand or set new impulses, especially in terms of technical infrastructure, digital skills and digital exchange and collaboration," says Charlotte Köhler, describing the tasks ahead of her.


The responsibilities of the Vice President for Digitalization include the strategic management of IT security issues, participation in the further development of the Centre for Digital Transformation (ZDT) of Brandenburg's universities and the management of digital research data infrastructures. Another focus will be on supporting the use of artificial intelligence in teaching.

About the person
Prof. Dr. Charlotte Köhler has been Junior Professor of Business Administration, in particular Business Analytics, at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics at the European University Viadrina since 2022. Her research interests include the analysis and processing of data - and the resulting optimization possibilities in the fields of medicine and logistics. She completed her doctorate on route planning for delivery services at the Free University of Berlin in 2020. Other academic positions include Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg and the University of Iowa. Charlotte Köhler is also a member of the Steering Committee of GLOHRA (German Alliance for Global Health Research).
