Minister Keller accepted an invitation from the Oderland-Spree Municipal Working Group (KAG) on June 27 to find out about current projects in the area of economic development and business park development.

The work of the KAG was presented by the chairman of the working committee, Mr. Rainer Schinkel. The KAG is a committee that meets regularly - usually monthly - to discuss regional development, economic development and representation of the region's interests. Members include the economic representatives of the districts of Märkisch-Oderland (MOL), Oder-Spree (LOS), the city of Frankfurt (Oder), the Oderland-Spree regional planning office and the Euroregion. The aim of the collaboration is to pool common interests, such as in the TOP 10 infrastructure projects, and to cooperate with partners such as the East Brandenburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Chamber of Skilled Crafts and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor, Energy and Transport (MWAEK).

Important projects in the region were presented, including the development of the A 12 industrial area in Frankfurt (Oder), the Ostbahn development axis in the Märkisch-Oderland district and the GIV Ost commercial and industrial area in the Oder-Spree district.

Minister Keller assured his support in the implementation and emphasized the urgent need for the designation of further commercial and industrial areas. East Brandenburg will remain a focus of the state government and a target for those interested in relocating to the region.

Rainer Schinkel emphasized: "The cooperation between the various stakeholders in Oderland-Spree within the KAG is exemplary and has been practiced successfully for more than 20 years. Of course, each district and ultimately each municipality has its own priorities. But there are overarching projects that benefit the entire region. Commercial space is urgently needed. Minister Keller has assured us of this, as did his predecessor Minister Steinbach. We are working hard to realize these projects. This task cannot be accomplished without the support of the state of Brandenburg."

The meeting took place at the Business Innovation Center (BIC) in Frankfurt (Oder), where the managing directors of the economic development agencies of the three local authorities, Mr. Nüßlein, Mr. Jonas and Mr. Müller, were present. Mr. Börner, Managing Director of the BIC, welcomed the participants.
