A few weeks ago, the collection of Neumark silver was ceremoniously presented to the public at the Viadrina Municipal Museum. With the support of the Verein der Freunde und Förderer des Museums Viadrina e.V., it has now been possible to add another piece to the Frankfurt silver collection.
The recently acquired object is a communion chalice from the Rococo period.
The chalice, which dates to the end of the 18th century, was made by the Frankfurt master goldsmith Johann Christoph Prévôt (born 1739). Prévôt came from the Duchy of Hesse-Kassel and later settled in the Oder city as a master goldsmith.
The chalice is the third object by Prévôt in the holdings of the Frankfurt City Museum to date.
