MedEx 2024 – Get to know qualification and career opportunities in the medical field in the Oder-Spree district

With the "MedEx 2024" project, the Office for District Development and Infrastructure would like to invite medical students who have passed their final medical exams to spend two days in the Oder-Spree district in September and present the municipality to them as an interesting, modern and exciting place to work and live. Applications are still possible until August 23, 2024.

Viadrina leads joint project to strengthen Open Educational Resources at universities – CO-WOERK project launched

Making teaching materials publicly accessible and cooperatively developing them further is one of the aims of the "Community for Knowledge Transfer OER: Network of Educational Stakeholders (CO-WOERK)" project, which was launched in June under the leadership of the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) and the Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences. The focus is on the idea of Open Educational Resources (OER), i.e. freely accessible teaching materials.

Kleist Prize now without age limit – Application still possible until August 31

The application phase for the Kleist Prize for New Drama 2025 is in full swing. Authors have until August 31 to submit their works for the award, which is being presented for the 30th time by the Kleiststadt Frankfurt (Oder), the Dramaturgische Gesellschaft and the Kleist Forum Frankfurt (Oder). For the first time, the age restriction has been lifted; previously, applicants could not be older than 35 at the closing date.

Multilingual emergency call handling in the Oderland regional control center

Since March 2024, the Oderland control center has been working with the interpreting hotline of the Berlin-based company Triaphon. By using the hotline, ten other languages in addition to English can now be covered when handling emergency calls. This means that the type of emergency can be determined quickly and appropriate assistance can be organized effectively.

Record number of exhibitors and visitors at the "Career Compass 2024" trainee and job fair

The "Career Compass 2024", the largest training and job fair in East Brandenburg, which took place on 24/25 May in and around the Giebelseehalle in Petershagen, attracted an even larger number of interested parties this year than last year. Hundreds of visitors, most of them 9th–12th grade students, flocked to the fairgrounds as soon as it opened to find out about their career options and make contact with potential employers.

Town hall officially reopened

With 250 invited guests and under special protective conditions, the historic town hall of the city of Frankfurt (Oder) was reopened on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 after extensive renovation work. In the presence of Minister President Dr. Dietmar Woidke and Uwe Schüler, State Secretary in the Brandenburg Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Planning, as well as many guests involved in the construction, financing and further securing of the major project, architect Ralf Fleckenstein handed over a symbolic key to Lord Mayor René Wilke, who is now once again the landlord after more than four years of construction.
