IHK Ostbrandenburg shows 25 urgent infrastructure construction sites
The relaxation of the debt brake agreed today in the Bundesrat paves the way for urgently needed investments. The IHK Ostbrandenburg has compiled a list of 25 infrastructure projects that have the highest priority from the perspective of the regional economy.
"The infrastructure atlas includes well-known major projects such as the modernization of the Ostbahn, the expansion of the A12 freeway and the Ahrensfelde bypass on the B158. But the list also includes important projects that have so far received too little attention in everyday politics - such as closing the gap in the Oder-Lausitz route, a new border crossing north of Schwedt or reactivating the Bad Saarow-Pieskow to Beeskow railroad line," says Monique Zweig, Managing Director of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
The overview makes it clear that the need for investment in East Brandenburg remains enormous:
"The need for a bypass in Neu-Zittau and Erkner has only intensified in recent months as the region has developed," explains Zweig.
The condition of the state roads is also deteriorating rapidly and requires swift action.
"With this overview, we don't just want to provide food for thought, but to provide concrete impetus. The money must be spent on investments and must not be allowed to seep away in processes that are already underway. Now is the time to get down to business."
