This year's STADTRADELN in Frankfurt (Oder) has come to a successful end. From September 8 to 28, 39 teams with a total of 500 cyclists actively participated. Together, they covered 91,088 kilometers by bike – and thus avoided 14 tons of CO₂ emissions. The participants contributed to the overall achievement with a great deal of commitment and creativity.

In many places, German cities and municipalities are facing a dilemma: on the one hand, the municipal budget situation is precarious, while on the other, the energy transition requires considerable investment. The new reference work from the Agency for Renewable Energies (AEE) shows examples of how municipalities can overcome these challenges.

This winter, the twin city of Frankfurt (Oder)/Słubice will once again be transformed into a place of encounter and pre-Christmas community: the Living Advent Calendar is entering a new round. We are looking for creative hosts who would like to fill a door with life – with music, craft activities, readings or other ideas around the theme of Christmas.

On October 1, Prof. Dr. Jelena von Achenbach will take over the professorship for Public Law, in particular European Law, at the Faculty of Law of the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder). She was awarded the Science Prize of the German Bundestag for her research on institutional Union law and the EU's defense policy.

Autumn revival on the labor market after a rise in unemployment: In September, a total of 14,825 people were registered as unemployed in the city of Frankfurt (Oder), the district of Märkisch-Oderland and the district of Oder-Spree. This is 515 fewer than in August and 542 more than in September 2024. The unemployment rate is 6.5 percent. In August, it stood at 6.7 percent and in September last year at 6.3 percent.

The Oder-Spree district is planning a comprehensive reorganization of its municipal companies in the health and care sector. In future, the district's ambulance service, its retirement homes and the Oder-Spree Hospital in Beeskow with its supplementary services in the Medical Care Center (MVZ) are to be brought together under the umbrella of GesundVerbund Oder-Spree GmbH.

While several hundred thousand young people have started their training in Germany, the application phase for the next generation has already begun. The Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHKs) and the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) are once again supporting them with a strong nationwide campaign that whets the appetite for training – fresh, bold and right on the pulse of the target group.

In November 2025, Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice will be focusing on the diversity of political education for a month under the motto "Border Experiences". More than 40 events at 17 different locations invite people of all ages to engage with democracy, history and current social issues.

On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, the fall semester of the German-Polish Seniors' Academy begins. The lecture series, which runs until December 2025, offers senior citizens a wide range of informative and stimulating topics. During the event, information will also be provided on further lectures, a culture-based language course and digital support services until December.

The publication provides an introduction to the theories and tools for assessing and managing conflict. In addition to classical conflict theory, it presents a variety of closely related topics such as justice, power, emotions and cognitive biases.
