New traffic routing on the A12 relieves the border checkpoint

The extensive reconstruction measures on the A12 federal freeway to optimize traffic flow in the area of the German-Polish border were successfully completed in December 2025. The new traffic routing was put into operation on the weekend before Christmas. The aim of the measure is to permanently reduce the massive congestion at the Frankfurt (Oder) freeway border checkpoint and to stabilize cross-border traffic.
