
Messe und Veranstaltungs GmbH, SMOK, the City of Frankfurt (Oder) and the City of Słubice, together with partners and supporters, presented the cultural summer in the twin city and the highlights of the 19th HanseStadtFest "Bunter Hering" / Miejskie Święto Hanzy at a press conference.
For the third time, Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice are jointly organizing the cultural summer in the twin city, which offers a variety of cultural events in different formats on almost every weekend from 5 July to 31 August. From concerts and family festivals to performances and open-air cinema – the twin city invites residents and guests to discover familiar and new places in the Oder cities and enjoy cultural entertainment.
The Lord Mayor of Frankfurt, René Wilke, and the Mayor of Słubice, Marzena Słodownik, emphasized: "We are delighted that we will be able to present the residents of our twin city and their guests with a multifaceted cultural summer again this year. Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice are colorful, diverse and create togetherness on many levels – including the cultural experience. There is something for everyone, so we cordially invite you to visit the events of the cultural summer."
The HanseStadtFest - Miejskie Swieto Hanzy will kick off the cultural summer at the Słubice stadium on July 5 at 8:00 p.m. The Polish band "Afromental" will open the stage program with an energetic mix of rock and hip-hop. Further highlights on Friday evening are the Polish rapper "Smolasty" and "Plan Be". On Saturday, "Lady Pank", a legendary Polish rock band that has been a fixture on the Polish music scene for 40 years, and the versatile artist Cleo are on the program, followed by the band "Long & Junior", who will delight the audience with club and disco music. The city festival in Słubice extends over two days (July 5 and 6) and offers a varied program for the whole family.
From July 7, a summer open-air cinema on Plac Bohaterow in Słubice will attract visitors to the open air on five evenings.
On July 8 and 9, Frankfurt's Brunnenplatz will become the venue for the soccer festival, which will offer soccer tournaments on mobile soccer pitches for all ages and genders as well as a wide range of football-related activities. In addition, the official Antenne Brandenburg public viewing of the European Football Championship will take place on Brunnenplatz on 9 and 10 July.
The "Bunte Hering" on the Frankfurt side will then begin on 11 July at 10:00 p.m. with the traditional evening concert by the Singakademie "Fenster im Licht" in St. Marien Church. On the evening before, July 10, sports enthusiasts can experience a yoga class in the unique atmosphere of the church at 6 p.m.
From Friday, July 12, the colorful hustle and bustle of the largest German-Polish folk festival in East Brandenburg will fill the entire city center. A German-Polish music program of every genre will be played on four stages for three days. From pop to jazz, from pop to classical, from rock to electronic and street music. The headliners of this year's HanseStadtFest in Frankfurt are Culcha Candela and ENEJ on Friday and Alphaville and Reni Jusis on Saturday on the main stage.
The BLOK O Arena at the Ärztehaus on the southern Holzmarkt will be playing electro sounds from Pure FM, while the northern Holzmarkt will be home to an area with folk-rock music. For younger guests, there is the children's and youth area "Frankfurter Spaß Island" on the northern side of the town hall.
This year, the Wishing Tree Alley has the motto "Peace, joy, pancakes, 11 friends you must be" and will be officially opened by children and Lord Mayor René Wilke on Thursday, July 11, at 10:00 a.m.
After the two-week city birthday party, techno and house beats will fill the park behind the bazaar in Słubice at the DJ Festival NOVUM on July 26 and 27.
From August 4, classical music will be played in the parks of the twin city on five weekends. A total of nine concerts with artists from many European countries are planned for the Summer Open Air Festival "Classics without Borders". The festival ends with a grand symphonic closing concert on Frankfurt's Anger on August 31.
