Development of the industrial area on the A12 is progressing: Polish road opened

Since Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 12:00 noon, Polnische Straße has been completely reopened to traffic after a full closure of around seven months. The road connection built in 2021 from Polnische Straße in the Frankfurt (Oder) South freight village (GVZ) to the B 112 was extended by an additional lane over a length of 700 m in order to increase the efficiency of public transport access to GVZ-Süd.

Kreismusikschule Märkisch-Oderland – Wim Jonas Niemand and Friederike Schick performed with the state orchestra for the first time at the benefit event for the "Familie in Not" foundation

Wim Jonas Niemand from Neuenhagen and Friederike Schick from Altlandsberg accepted an unusual invitation to perform at the Nikolaisaal Potsdam on December 6. As a young piano duo, they were able to perform a piano concert in the state capital accompanied by the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt.

Laying of the foundation stone for the new fire department technical center

On December 11, 2024, the foundation stone was ceremoniously laid for the new fire department technical center at Am Biotop in Strausberg. The district of Märkisch-Oderland has a fire department technical center (FTZ) with an integrated disaster control warehouse to fulfill the tasks of supra-local fire protection and supra-local assistance. The FTZ is also a training and further education facility for firefighters and members of aid organizations.

Wilfried Lausch signs the city's Golden Book

On December 11, 2024, Wilfried Harald Lausch, the former plant manager of the city of Frankfurt (Oder)'s own sports center, was honored with an entry in the city's Golden Book on the occasion of his retirement. This high recognition was preceded by many years of outstanding work in the field of competitive sport, in particular as head of the Brandenburg Olympic Training Center. For more than three decades, Wilfried Lausch played a decisive role in shaping the sporting infrastructure and performance of the Frankfurt (Oder) sports center.

Unithea wants passion – Viadrina students organize theater festival for the 25th time

The Unithea theater festival will celebrate its 25th edition in the twin city of Frankfurt (Oder) – Słubice on June 13 and 14, 2025. Following the positive response to the diverse performances this year, a team of students and employees of the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) is currently working on the preparations for next year's anniversary edition. The focus is on the theme of "Passion". The application phase for artists is currently underway.
