The IHK Ostbrandenburg provides information on the current status of training contracts for the start of training and refers to offers for school leavers and parents
As of August 31, the IHK Ostbrandenburg had registered 1,295 new training contracts for the starting training year. This is 56 fewer contracts than at the same time last year. One of the reasons for this is that the start of training this year falls during the summer vacations; many school leavers have not yet made their decision or the contracts have not yet been submitted to the IHK.
"We assume that we will receive numerous training contracts for registration in the coming days," says Michael Völker, Head of Education at the IHK Ostbrandenburg. "We have never before had a situation where the start of training falls during the vacations. Many school leavers are clearly not yet looking forward to the transition into working life with the necessary seriousness and enthusiasm."
In individual sectors, the trend varies: while growth in new training contracts was recorded in metal technology (+12) and in the food & beverage segment (+10), the figures fell in the professions of chemistry, physics and biology (-20) and electrical engineering (-18), among others. A total of 122 young people from abroad are starting their training in East Brandenburg: including 56 from Vietnam and 14 from Ukraine.
The East Brandenburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce offers advice for anyone who is still undecided or needs support. "Our qualification advisors are available for all school leavers and parents to work out the next steps into working life together. There is still room for improvement," emphasizes Michael Völker. "Our central demand as the IHK remains that vocational orientation must be firmly anchored in the curriculum and company internships must be more flexible."
