On September 23, 2025 from 4 pm, there will be a celebration in the old hangar at Strausberg airfield. The "Startup Hangar Strausberg", one of the six startup centers funded by the state of Brandenburg, will begin operations.

Startups based in Brandenburg will be supported here to the east of Berlin over the next few years. The startup teams will gain access to a network of experts, mentors, business angels and companies with whom they can develop solutions for their products via the Startup Hangar.

In addition, the Hangar supports startups in the use of offices and workshops as well as in the development and prototyping of their innovations.

The Startup Hangar Strausberg has a special infrastructure for technology startups from the aviation and autonomous systems sector: startups will find optimal working and testing facilities in the vicinity of Strausberg airfield and in the STIC Strausberg technology center.

The STIC has a 5G/6G campus network and a test field for trials with autonomous vehicles. Close cooperation with the airfields in Strausberg and Neuhardenberg enables the testing of flight systems and drones. The STIC is currently converting 200 square meters of workshop space into a makerspace where start-ups can tinker. This should be completed in October.

"Hangar Strausberg is very happy to support teams that are working on solutions for rural areas. We are thinking here of the topics of autonomous mobility or technologies for the agriculture of the future. But of course we also welcome all other start-ups. In East Brandenburg in particular, we have a lot of catching up to do when it comes to attracting start-ups and developing a start-up culture. I expect to see visible results here, also by linking up with the strong Berlin startup ecosystem" emphasizes Andreas Jonas, Managing Director of STIC, which is also the sponsor of the Startup Hangar in Strausberg.

"We provide the startup teams with a support package tailored to their needs, consisting of advice, coaching, networking and the opportunity to use premises and technology. A particularly positive aspect is that we can support them over several months. We group several teams together in a cohort so that they can easily network and cooperate with other startups." says Stefanie van Laak, project manager of the Startup Hangar.

The support for the first startup cohort will begin in October.
