The school year for the first two seventh grades of the newly founded Protestant secondary school in Frankfurt (Oder) began with a school opening service in St. Gertraud's Church on September 1 at 11 am. Now that the Protestant elementary school in the city has developed into a recognized and valued place of learning for over twenty years, pupils can continue their school career at a Protestant school.

The current seventh grade classes will initially remain in the Protestant elementary school building until the coming school year, when they will move into the actual school building, the "Alte Post" in the center of Frankfurt, together with the new high school and secondary school classes, which will be renovated by then. Despite the traditional ambience, the Protestant school is planning to use modern pedagogical concepts and at the same time wants to network with many institutions in the city and make a contribution to urban society.

The school is run by the Protestant School Foundation of the EKBO, which operates many schools in Berlin and Brandenburg and is supported by the parish and church district at the start of the school. The new principal will be Florian Rietzl, who has already worked at the Docemus schools in Grünheide and most recently as deputy principal at the Bernhardinum Catholic School Center in Fürstenwalde. He was awarded the German Teacher Prize in 2017.

We wish all pupils, teachers and staff an exciting and successful first school year!
