The district of Märkisch-Oderland announces the official launch of a pioneering project that will strengthen the connection of the German cycle path network with the trans-European EuroVelo network and at the same time enhance the region's tourism infrastructure. The signing ceremony for the project took place on August 26, 2025, and the project aims to promote sustainable and nature-friendly tourism and further establish the region as an attractive destination for cyclists and tourists.

Europe Bridge as a key project

The project focuses on connecting the "Europe Bridge" to the trans-European cycle path network in the assisted area as well as upgrading, consolidating and marketing tourism offers. These measures will not only increase the tourist attractiveness of the district, but will also make a significant contribution to the sustainable development of regional tourism. Around 2.9 million people from the neighboring regions will benefit from the newly created infrastructure.

The linking and upgrading of tourist cycling infrastructure will take place over a distance of 10.07 km along the cross-border EuroVelo routes.

Funding through ERDF funds (EU funding)

The project is being funded as part of the Interreg VI A Mecklenburg-Vorpommern / Brandenburg / Polska 2021–2027 cooperation program and will receive EU funding of €2,110,517.39 (80% of the total budget of €2,638,146.76). The partnership includes the district of Märkisch-Oderland as the lead partner (€72,543.32) as well as the Barnim-Oderbruch office (€2,297,186.46) and the municipality of Cedynia (€268,416.98).

Project duration and outlook
