Since March 2024, the Oderland control center has been working together with the interpreting hotline of the Berlin-based company Triaphon.
Thanks to the use of the hotline, ten other languages in addition to English can now be covered in emergency call processing. For example, if someone dials 112 and only speaks Arabic, the control center dispatcher can call in an interpreter by dialing the appropriate number so that the conversation between the person in distress and the control center is translated in real time. This allows the nature of the emergency to be determined quickly and appropriate assistance to be organized effectively.
The use of the interpreter hotline is an important step in ensuring that control centre dispatchers are able to respond quickly and appropriately in emergencies, regardless of the language of the caller.
The Oderland regional control centre is the first in the state of Brandenburg to offer this option to foreign-language speakers in the coverage area.
