Cycling on the Oder-Neisse Cycle Path © Stadtmarketing Frankfurt (Oder)

Together with the local councils, the city of Frankfurt (Oder) is opening the new SpOrtsteilroute on Saturday, 30 May, as part of a celebratory kick-off bike tour. All Frankfurt cycling enthusiasts are invited to cycle along the 42 km route between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and try out the new outdoor sports equipment in the districts. The tour starts at the market square in Frankfurt (Oder), meeting point from 8.30 a.m.

Mayor Dr Axel Strasser: "With the SpOrtsteilroute, we are creating an attractive exercise programme for all generations in our sports-loving city and at the same time bringing our districts even closer together. With the kick-off cycle tour at the end of May, we are inviting all interested citizens to pedal together, try out new things and discover our districts in a special way. I will be cycling along myself and look forward to chatting with participants along the route. My heartfelt thanks go to the local councils, who are contributing to the success of this event with their great commitment and many creative ideas."

The SpOrtsteilroute, which has been expanded to include a total of 28 outdoor sports equipment, creates an additional link between Frankfurt's nine districts. This enriches the existing offerings at the popular rest stops with additional opportunities for sporting activities and socialising in public spaces.
