More than 2,300 spectators have seen the summer production "JACQUELINE" in the vacant former 10th Polytechnische Oberschule in Bischofstraße over the past few weeks. The tenth co-production between the Kleist Forum and Theater Das Letzte Kleinod has become an absolute audience favorite.
"We are delighted that we have touched so many people emotionally with this elaborate play about youth and school days in the GDR and stimulated discussion," says Florian Vogel, Artistic Director of the Kleist Forum.
"Behind us lie intensive weeks in which we were able to develop a tailor-made production for this city – with the help of many people who entrusted us with their stories, photos and other memorabilia and even wanted to be on stage with us," says Jens-Erwin Siemssen, theater maker and artistic director of the group Das letzte Kleinod.
"JACQUELINE" was created based on the memories of contemporary witnesses who went to school in Frankfurt (or). Sometimes humorous, sometimes melancholy, but above all authentic, the theater production succeeded in bringing a piece of the GDR past to life – respectfully, but without glorifying it. To this end, private photos on the school's façade created a collective photo album of the city of Frankfurt (Oder).
In collaboration with the Kleist Forum and with the kind support of the Fonds Darstellende Künste, the MWFK Brandenburg and the Kulturbüro Frankfurt (Oder).
