It's finally here again! The outdoor and excursion season! The Oder-Spree Lake District is a paradise for cyclists and hikers, but can also be explored in a comfortable and environmentally friendly way using public transport.

With the A400 to the Schlaubetal

Until October 31, the popular A400 excursion line will once again be criss-crossing the fascinating Schlaubetal valley at weekends and on public holidays, taking excursionists from Jacobsdorf station to the most beautiful hiking hotspots in an environmentally friendly way! Hop on – Hop off is the motto, as hikers can hop on and off as they please along the route and discover the breathtaking nature and the mills as exciting contemporary witnesses. While they were once the most important source of energy, powered by the water of the Schlaube, today they are popular places to stop for refreshments or exciting "lost places". The fact that the Oder-Spree district has ordered the excursion line again in 2024 and even extended it to include the Schlaubemühle/Wirchensee stop underlines the appreciation of tourism in our Oder-Spree Lakeland travel region. With the help of audio announcements at the respective stops on the buses and the presentation of excursion tips on Komoot, the service for excursionists has also been further enhanced this season.

Discover the recognized resort of Müllrose, the tranquil old town, the certified Schlaubetalwanderweg and the small and large Müllroser See lake as the gateway to the Schlaubetal. The circular hiking trail around the idyllic Wirchensee, through which the Schlaube flows, is recommended at any time of year.

Orderbus 879 takes you to the river without a car

Immerse yourself in the Oderbruch and discover a unique landscape with extensive nature, a fascinating history and surprising cultural highlights. Just 50 kilometers north-east of Berlin, the excursion line 879 operated by the district of Märkisch-Oderland offers a connection to the banks of the Oder, the Oder-Neisse cycle path and interesting destinations in the surrounding area. The so-called Oderbus runs every Saturday until the end of October. On every first trip of the month, a tour guide accompanies the excursionists into the Bruch. But during the other trips, you will also be well informed about all the sights along the route via audio guide.

There are many places to discover, including the village of Schiffmühle, where Theodor Fontane's father once lived and which is now home to a Fontane Museum worth seeing, or the village of Zollbrücke, a popular excursion destination with its unique Theater am Rand, which delights with theater performances, concerts and readings and also has a lot to offer in terms of culinary delights. From Zollbrücke, you can take a short hike or bike ride along the Oder towards the Europabrücke bridge. This gigantic structure was once a railroad bridge and now allows pedestrians and cyclists to cross the Oder between Neurüdnitz and Siekierki and reach new destinations.
