The former German ambassador to Poland Rolf Nikel will present his highly topical book "Enemies Strangers Friends. Poland and the Germans." at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder). Interested parties are cordially invited to attend the event organized by the Center for Interdisciplinary Polish Studies, the Karl Dedecius Foundation and the Oekumenisches Europa-Centrum (OEC) in the Lodge Hall of the European University, Logenstraße 11.

The conversation will be moderated by Dr. Justus Werdin, retired pastor. Following the conversation, the book can be purchased.

As German ambassador to Warsaw from 2014 to 2020, Rolf Nikel witnessed and helped shape the dynamics between Germany and Poland at close quarters. In January of this year, his book was published, in which he describes his observations before and after the "turn of the times" proclaimed by Chancellor Olaf Scholz - both from the direct neighborhood perspective and in a broader European and geopolitical context. In doing so, he reports his observations authentically and with some personal anecdotes.
