On Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 6 p.m., Dr. Marita Genesis will give the evening lecture "Four thousand maursteine für eine löttige Mark Silbers – Archäologische Funde und Befunde einer splächtigen Stadt aus der Baubegleitung der Häuser 12 bis 17 in der Carl-Philipp-Emanuel-Bach-Straße, Frankfurt (Oder)" at the Museum Viadrina (Kurfürstensaal im Junkerhaus).

The first house in Carl-Philipp-Emanuel-Bach-Straße was archaeologically recorded a few years ago. Arched projections, stairs and appropriately placed light niches showed that this and probably the other houses in the street were built in the Middle Ages. The houses have been destroyed, rebuilt and altered several times in the course of their history. Each house tells its own story. Be it the traces of the Thirty Years' War, older medieval pit houses underneath or the technical achievements of the early 20th century, which can be dated by construction phases and brick dimensions. Or the numerous lost finds within the houses, which reveal the lives of the former inhabitants. The spectrum of finds ranges from the Bronze Age to the present day.
