A European perspective on the topic of conflict management: Viadrina researcher and mediator Kirsten Schroeter, long-time academic director of the Master's degree course in Mediation and Conflict Management at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder), has published the book "Understanding and Managing Conflicts" with Prof. Dr. Lin Adrian from the University of Copenhagen, published by utb-Verlag. It is a product of the long-standing cooperation between the two courses at the European University Viadrina and the University of Copenhagen, which combines different academic disciplines - from psychology and law to organizational sociology. The book therefore also builds a bridge between different academic and practical approaches.

The publication provides an introduction to the theories and tools for assessing and managing conflicts. In addition to classical conflict theory, it presents a variety of closely related topics such as justice, power, emotions and cognitive biases. The authors are aimed at anyone who wants to deal with conflict in a more considered and flexible way - in their own everyday life, as a specialist or manager working together or as a professional consultant. They illustrate the theoretical concepts with a series of examples, case histories and models.
