A look behind the scenes at the Landesschule und Technische Einrichtung für Brand- und Katastrophenschutz (LSTE) in Eisenhüttenstadt will be available to all visitors on September 7, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Civil Protection Day and the LSTE Open Day.
The Ministry of the Interior and Municipal Affairs of the State of Brandenburg (MIK) and LSTE will be presenting civil protection and civil defense services at the event. They offer a varied program and present their skills in the form of height rescue exercises, operational demonstrations, taster lessons and the Cottbus catastrophe protection lighthouse, among other things.
Activities, children's face painting and a stage program invite all age groups to find out how the state's protective measures work in crisis situations such as pandemics, extreme weather, floods and forest fires, and what precautions citizens can take themselves.
The following topics are covered:
- Emergency preparedness – cooking without electricity
- Important for survival – stocking up on food and drink
- Personal emergency preparedness – keeping important documents to hand
- Acting correctly – luggage for emergencies
- Warning the public and the dangers of fake news
- Self-help in the event of danger – water rescue
- First aid (resuscitation training, breathing control and stable lateral position) and emergency first-aid kit
- Rescue chain
- Power outage (BlackOut hands-on activity)
- Weather hazards – meteorology meets expertise
- Fire: Well informed – better protected – What to do when there is a fire?
- How to behave in the event of flooding
- Hazards involving chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear substances (CBRN)
- Presentation of the THW training center
The event will be culturally framed with live music from the Berlin Police Combo and the walking band "Sharks Moove".
Food and drink will also be provided.
