Impressed by the dimension and the many parallel processes in the Tesla production were the representatives of the districts Märkisch-Oderland and Oder-Spree and the city of Frankfurt (Oder) during the visit of the Tesla Gigafactory in Grünheide on 26.05.2023.

Equally pleased is the municipal working group Oderland-Spree (KAG OLS) about the forward-looking exchange on common issues in the factory. These are currently mainly the provision of housing for Tesla employees in the surrounding area and the integration of local products and services in the current and future processes. For the next expansion stage, which is already under construction, many hundreds of employees are being sought and will come to Brandenburg. Experience has shown that many skilled workers want to reduce travel distances and move into an apartment in the vicinity of the plant. The shuttles to Tesla will be further expanded so that even more residential locations will be easily accessible. Special target groups here are trainees, young employees or employees with disabilities, who are happy to share apartments with colleagues in the neighborhood, for example.

Another issue that the Oderland-Spree region is working hard to address is making the management of business parks and production sites, such as Tesla, as sustainable as possible. This includes, for example, the supply of local products for the supply of employees as well as the stronger networking with service providers from the immediate vicinity. Concrete ideas and possibilities will be mapped out by the municipal players with their respective economic development agencies.

Tesla shows interest and open to the ideas and is pleased about the announced offers and support from the Regional Management Oderland-Spree.

The KAG OLS and the representatives of Tesla agreed after an approximately two-hour intensive exchange and subsequent plant tour with many points of contact to a next meeting in the fall of 2023.
