The alumni of the European University Viadrina Dr Kerstin Hinrichsen and Dr Markus Nesselrodt will present their newly published city guide "Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice" on Wednesday, 17 June at 6.30 p.m. in a book presentation followed by a discussion.
The event will take place at the Stadt- und Regionalbibliothek, Bischofstraße 17, 15230 Frankfurt (Oder). Admission is free, registration is not required.
The city guide brings together twelve thematic walks through the history and present of the twin city. Several Viadrina researchers are among the authors, including Prof Dr Werner Benecke, Dr Magdalena Abraham-Diefenbach, Prof Dr Rita Aldenhoff-Hübinger and Prof Dr Paul Zalewski. The city guide aims to inspire people to take a closer look at the traces of the past in Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice and is also the result of a transfer between the university and urban society.
Background
The book, published by BeBra-Verlag, is the updated new edition of a city guide that was published by Scotty Scout in 2021 as part of a German-Polish Interreg project. After the publishing house ceased operations last year, the now out-of-print city guide was no longer available on the book market. With the support of the European University Viadrina and Messe und Veranstaltungs GmbH of the City of Frankfurt, a publication is now once again available for anyone interested in the twin city.
About the editors
Kerstin Hinrichsen and Markus Nesselrodt both studied Cultural Studies at the European University Viadrina. Kerstin Hinrichsen currently works as a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science. Markus Nesselrodt is an academic assistant at the Chair of Culture and History of Central and Eastern Europe at the European University Viadrina.
