"VolkseigenTon" - Music and poetry from 40 years of the GDR at the Kleist Forum

The sound of the GDR will be heard on February 21 at 7:30 pm in Frankfurt's Kleist Forum. Under the title "VolkseigenTon", pianist and two-time Echo Klassik award winner Ragna Schirmer, drummer and percussionist Matthias Daneck and actor Axel Ranisch will embark on a musical journey through the cultural heritage of East Germany.

The trio presents a kaleidoscope of poetry, music and improvisations in the field of tension between avant-garde and adaptation, loyalty to the regime and resistance. The selection of works juxtaposes the private and the political, the personal and the partisan. With compositions and texts by Paul Dessau, Friedrich Goldmann, Bertold Brecht, Thomas Brasch, Peter Hacks, Sarah Kirsch and Eva Strittmatter, among others.
