In June, a total of 14,831 people were registered as unemployed in the city of Frankfurt (Oder), the Märkisch-Oderland district and the Oder-Spree district. That is 190 fewer than in May and 103 fewer than in June 2025. The unemployment rate stands at 6.5 per cent, exactly the same as in June last year.
Jochem Freyer, head of the employment agencies in East Brandenburg, puts the current trend into perspective: “East Brandenburg is setting a positive example against the general trend. Overall, the labour market continues to tread water. This makes the planned 3,000 new hires by Tesla and Ceva Logistics in Frankfurt (Oder) by the end of the year all the more encouraging. It shows that economic change is also creating new jobs. We are now working flat out to successfully help as many unemployed people as possible into these new job opportunities.”
