As an amusing start to the new year, Frankfurt's Kleist Forum is showing the turbulent comedy "Pension Schöller" on January 13 and 14. The ensemble of the Neue Bühne Senftenberg will be straining the audience's laugh muscles with this stage classic and presenting with relish how easily the line between normality and madness blurs.

In search of a new adventure, wealthy Philipp Klapproth comes to the capital from the Brandenburg province: he wants to see the inside of a mental institution. His nephew Alfred, dependent on his uncle's financial support, takes him to the Pension Schöller, where society evenings are held regularly. A duelling major, a bizarre writer or a budding actor with a distinctive speech impediment – the uncle doesn't realize that he is not meeting "lunatics" here, but completely "normal madmen" and he is having a great time. But he didn't expect that the pension guests from the capital would later come to visit him in the country - and drive him to the brink of madness himself.
