The German-Polish exhibition "Art and Architecture in the Diocese of Lubuskie. Searching for traces in an undiscovered cultural landscape" began its journey through the former diocese area and through the Lubusz region. The show will be on display at a total of 12 locations until the end of 2026, seven of which are in Poland and five in Germany.

The exhibition is dedicated to the art and architectural heritage of the Diocese of Lubusz, which was founded in 1124/1125 and ceased to exist in 1598.

Despite its early end, significant evidence has been preserved in the area of the diocese, which was once located on both sides of the Oder. Located between the artistic landscapes of Greater Poland, Silesia, Saxony, Lusatia and the Mark Brandenburg, the sacred buildings and their furnishings reflect a variety of stylistic influences - from churches in Frankfurt (Oder) and Fürstenwalde to Templar and Johanniter buildings as well as rural places of worship.

The exhibition invites visitors to rediscover this hitherto little-known cultural landscape and embark on a journey through the history, art and architecture of the Lubusz region.

A calendar for the year 2026 has been created to accompany the traveling exhibition. This presents a selection of the significant cultural heritage of the Lubusz diocese. Copies of the calendar are available free of charge during the opening hours of the Viadrina Museum (Tuesdays to Sundays: 11.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.).

The traveling exhibition and the calendar are part of the cross-border research and exhibition project "Remembrance connects – Pamięć łączy" (BBPL0100043), which was financed by Interreg funds and has been running since January 2025 in cooperation with the city of Seelow and the municipality of Słońsk at the Viadrina Municipal Museum in Frankfurt (Oder).
