The Frankfurt "Theater des Lachens" was awarded the 2023 Children's and Youth Theater Prize of the INTHEGA Board for trend-setting children's and youth theater in the area. The festive award ceremony took place last week as part of the INTHEGA Congress in Bielefeld.
Johanna Kiesel, Vice-President of the Board of INTHEGA (Interessengemeinschaft der Städte mit Theatergastspielen e.V.), gave the laudatory speech and presented the award to Torsten Gesser and Nicole Gospodarek.
The "Theater des Lachens" presents a diverse range of theater to the city and region. This includes the playbill, theater pedagogy and genres such as puppet, rod and hand puppetry, drama and object theater. It is also an open production and performance venue, as well as a nationally and internationally networked festival venue.
Experience this diversity for an audience from two years, including children, young people, families and a young as well as older evening audience. The "Theater des Lachens" has made it its business to familiarize the audience in particular with the art form of puppet and object theater.
Mayor René Wilke congratulates warmly and emphasizes the cross-city role of the theater: "The Theater of Laughter enriches our city and its cultural landscape in a unique way. With its broad range and artistic diversity, it contributes significantly to the promotion of children's and youth theater. The Theater des Lachens creates unforgettable experiences for its audience, conveys values and brings us closer to the art form of puppet and object theater in an impressive way. We are proud to have such an outstanding institution in our city."
