Dr. habil. Robert Geisler, current holder of the Polish Visiting Lectureship of the Meyer-Struckmann Foundation in the Master's program in European Studies at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder), will give a public lecture on the German minority in Poland on Monday, June 26, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. The English-language event, entitled "German Minority in Poland - Origin, Activities, Policy", will be organized in cooperation with the Center for Interdisciplinary Polish Studies and moderated by Prof. Dr. Dagmara Jajeśniak-Quast.

Interested parties are cordially invited to the main building of the University, Große Scharrnstraße 59, room 217, for the lecture. Afterwards, there will be a snack.

The lecture will present qualitative research findings on the development of social capital, civil society and political engagement from the perspective of the German minority in the Opole region. What is special about Robert Geisler's study of the German minority in Poland is the bottom-up perspective of the members and organizations of the German minorities at the beginning of the 21st century, which has been lacking in research projects from political science, sociology, and cultural studies on the same topic.
