Unemployment rate in East Brandenburg unchanged at 5.8 percent
In October, a total of 12,932 people were registered as unemployed in the city of Frankfurt (Oder), the district of Märkisch-Oderland and the district of Oder-Spree. This is one person less than in October and 462 more than in November 2021. The unemployment rate remained at 5.8 percent. In November 2021, it had been at 5.5 percent.
.In addition to the establishments that are currently still working short-time, another 30 establishments reported short-time work in November. In October, 61 establishments had newly added.
.
Since companies have up to three months to settle short-time work with the employment agency, the final figures on how many companies have actually worked short-time in a month are delayed. According to the projections, 226 East Brandenburg businesses and 276 employees worked short-time in the month of July.
Jochem Freyer, Chairman of the Board of the Employment Agency Frankfurt (Oder): "More usually, unemployment goes down in November. This year, the unemployment rate is unchanged as in the previous month at 5.8 percent. Many companies have major concerns, but hold on to their employees. However, with the exception of the public sector, the willingness to hire is decreasing. Nevertheless, there are still plenty of vacancies for anyone looking for a job.
For the coming months, I expect unemployment to rise moderately, also for seasonal reasons. Particularly in the stationary trade, the catering trade and in the housing construction the employment prospects will decrease.
Our job centers are preparing for the new citizen's income. The increased standard rates will be paid out on time at the turn of the year. No new application is required."
