The application of the city of Frankfurt (Oder), supported by the states of Berlin and Brandenburg, to become the site of the Future Center for European Transformation and German Unity planned by the German government, continues to find growing support, also within the Oderland-Spree region. After the mayors of the district-free cities in Brandenburg pledged their support a few days ago, the district administrators of the neighboring counties Rolf Lindemann (Oder-Spree) and Gernot Schmidt (Märkisch-Oderland) are now also voicing their support.

Rolf Lindemann, District Administrator Oder-Spree
."Our neighboring city can count on a strong tailwind from the Oder-Spree district in its application. With which challenges transformation processes are connected, can be understood in East Brandenburg in the Reallabor, for example with the steel manufacturer ArcelorMittal in Eisenhüttenstadt or in Grünheide, where the automobile manufacturer Tesla realizes a large-scale project. The future center can become another strong pacemaker, which gives our region stability and perspective."

Gernot Schmidt, District Administrator Märkisch-Oderland
"A Future Center for European Transformation and German Unity in Frankfurt (Oder) would be a gain for East Brandenburg. The region benefits from a strong regional center, as well as the city benefits from the successful development of the district Märkisch-Oderland. With the Regional Planning Association Oderland-Spree, the tourism association "Seenland Oder-Spree", the Euroregion or the municipal working group "Oderland", we have proven that together we can represent the interests of the region and achieve positive things for the citizens. Gladly I therefore support the application of Frankfurt (Oder)."

René Wilke, Lord Mayor of Frankfurt (Oder)
"With our application, we create a movement that takes Berlin and Brandenburg. But of course it is especially our direct neighborhood, whose willingness to help during the process of the application and also after a decision, is needed. The establishment of this federal facility in Frankfurt (Oder) would go a long way toward promoting cultural, tourist and social networking as well as economic stabilization in East Brandenburg. I am very pleased that this is seen in the same way in the environment of our city. This is impressively demonstrated by the statements of Rolf Lindemann and Gernot Schmidt."
