Which places are particularly important to citizens in the twin city of Frankfurt (Oder)/Słubice? Where would they like to see change? A German-Polish team of researchers from Leuphana University Lüneburg and the University of Natural Sciences in Wroclaw is asking these and other questions until the end of June

"From the responses so far, it is clear that some places are particularly important to many people from Frankfurt and Słubice," says Dr. Sarah Gottwald of the University of Lüneburg. "These include the Gerstenberger Höfe, the island of Ziegenwerder, the Anger behind the Gertraudenkirche, the Stadtbrücke and the Słubicer Oderwiesen." More than 300 significant sites have already been marked on a digital map by the citizens of the twin city.

For Dr. Iga Kołodyńska (University of Wroclaw), what has been remarkable so far is that there are supposedly negative impressions in significant places, such as street noise, but that this has little to do with the strength of attachment to those same places. "For planning purposes, this means that places that seem supposedly noisy, dirty, or not "lovable" may well be places with memories and personal connections."

The city of Frankfurt (Oder) and the municipality of Słubice support the research project and invite citizens to participate in the survey until Friday, June 30, 2023.

In the context of participation, a value voucher in the amount of 100.00 euros is offered.
