With "Eduard's Dream", actor Dominique Horwitz will take on one of Wilhelm Busch's lesser-known texts from 1891 at Frankfurt's Theaterhaus Kleist Forum on 14 February.
In the story by the poet and illustrator, who became famous for his humorous picture stories ("Max and Moritz"), the protagonist undergoes a surrealistic dream journey. In his sleep, he is transformed into a "thinking point" who leaves his body and encounters the most bizarre figures and characters in an absurd world in which the laws of nature are suspended. The grotesque dream narrative is considered one of the early works of surrealism.
Dominique Horwitz is accompanied by two virtuoso musicians: classical percussionist Lukas Böhm and jazz trombonist Hansjörg Fink. For "Eduard's Dream", they invent worlds of sound and dreams that make Wilhelm Busch's satirical prose dance.
