Successes for Märkisch-Oderland in the Brandenburg city centre competition

The district of Märkisch-Oderland congratulates the towns of Strausberg, Müncheberg and Seelow on their successful entries in the Brandenburg 2025/2026 city centre competition. Innovative projects for the revitalisation and further development of city centres were honoured at the award ceremony in Potsdam.

The Town of Strausberg achieved particular success with the "Altes Stadthaus RELOADED" project, which was awarded first prize in the "Rethinking spaces – creative utilisation ideas" category in the larger municipalities category. The historic building is to be further developed into an open socio-cultural meeting place.

Altlandsberg was also honoured: The "Alte Feuerwehr" project was awarded 1st prize in the smaller municipalities category. In particular, the successful combination of historical building fabric and new usage perspectives for the city centre was recognised.

The projects "Kurze Nacht Müncheberg" and "Seelow – Stadt.Raum.Bewegung." were honoured by the jury and received recognition for their creative approaches to city centre development.
 

Landrat Gernot Schmidt explains: "I warmly congratulate the participating municipalities from Märkisch-Oderland on this success. The award-winning projects impressively demonstrate how committed and creative our towns are to developing their town centres. Vibrant town centres are important places for people to meet, social interaction and regional identity. I am very pleased about this positive development in our district."

The city centre competition is held every two years by the Alliance for Vibrant City Centres and supports projects that strengthen city centres as attractive places to live, culture and meet.
