A theater version of Juli Zeh's novel "Über Menschen" will be shown at the Frankfurt Kleist Forum on January 24. The production by Neue Bühne Senftenberg captivates with the intense acting of the performers. The minimalist stage design leaves plenty of room for the novel's linguistic wit.

Dora from Berlin escapes the big city to a village in Brandenburg during the coronavirus pandemic. Her search for meaning should come to an end when she buys a house. But Dora soon realizes that the search is only just beginning, that she can't run away from her feelings and now has to create a new home for herself in a completely new environment. Her neighbor Gote introduces himself to her as "the village Nazi". What is she to do about the incipient racism? Where is her moral courage? She cautiously gets to know the country and the neighborhood, becomes more and more entangled in the worries and needs of the people in the village and is constantly tested in her own convictions.

A story about prejudice and community that does not justify the right-wing attitude in the East and yet shows that it is easier to form an opinion about people when you meet them.
